CANDLE MAGIC QUESTIONS:  See below for your burning candle ritual questions.

Is candle magic safe?

Yes!  Do you make wishes when blowing out the candles on your birthday cake?  Have you ever lit a candle in a church for some extra love and blessings?  How about lighting a candle to freshen up your home?  It is the same thing!  The only difference is that when using Little Spell Kits, you are making a more focused, concise and direct request.  You are essentially initiating the Law of Attraction.

Just a little more on candle magic...

Candles have been used in the past for many religious, spiritual and ancient rituals. Light from the candle is intended to chase away darkness and lead one to treasures that they could not access before. The exact origin of candles is not really known although there has been evidence in Egypt concerning the use of bee wax candles around 3000 BCE. At the time, tapers candles made of fibrous materials were also in use. Candle light was used by ancient people for lighting and they believed that if they stare into a flame for a long period of time, they could see gods and spirits. The early Egyptians used lamps or preferably candles in a magic ritual of obtaining answers for dreams. One would go into a dark cave facing south, and sit down as they stared into a flame until they saw a god. They would then fall asleep with the hope that the god would appear to them again and offer answers to their questions.

Pagans, in the past used candles and lamps to perform religious functions. By the fourth century, many churches were using candles for religious purposes and since the twelfth century, candles have been placed in church altars. The Catholic Church uses consecrated candles in blessing rituals, to exorcize demons and believe that the light absolves sins. That is why, even in the modern Catholic Churches, candles are always lit in the church and at the altars. In the church, it is believed that once you make a wish and light a candle, your wishes will eventually come true.

Lastly, in case you are wondering, some people use candles with darker results in mind.  We will not go into that here, as we at My Little Magic Shop are only interested in things that bring and are done with loads of love.  If you are searching for anything other than experiences that will help your light shine brighter, you love yourself more deeply or expand your consciousness to the benefit of your higher well being, we suggest you venture elsewhere.

What's a horoscope?

A horoscope is similar to a weather report but only for your soul!  An astrologer analyzes the upcoming astrological forecast (how the planets will interact with each other) and determines how each sign will experience these interactions.  The astrologer’s goal is to help you effectively navigate the energies coming your way so you can ride the wave instead of the waves catching you by surprise.  Just like the weather forecast predicts rainy and sunny days, a horoscope predicts which area of your life will be smooth rolling and which might be a little trickier to navigate.  If you know it will rain the entire weekend, you might plan some low key festivities instead of a beach trip or picnic in the park.  It's the same with Astrology!  Maybe your natal chart shows it's time for you to buckle down at work so you can be alert to opportunities, you wouldn't want to be wasting time chasing boys, right?

What sign should I read for?

Traditionally, Astrologers write with the intention for you to read for your sun sign.  We have included a nifty chart below so you can quickly reference where the sun was at the time of your birth.

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Gemini May 21-June 20)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Pisces (February 19-March 20)

why isn't my horoscope always accurate?

How can all 7 billion of us fit into only 12 signs?

Have you ever tried reading for your rising sign instead of your sun?  It's worth noting that you might find more accuracy if you read for your rising sign instead of or in addition to reading for your sun sign.  This is because your rising sign is incredibly important for additional personalization as it determines your house placements.  Horoscopes are written taking into account what the planets are doing in each house of your chart to determine where the most energy will be present.  It is based on the exact time of your birth.  Unfortunately, most people have no idea of their rising sign.  If you have a copy of your birth certificate handy we are happy to help you confirm your rising sign for free.  Just drop your birth day, time, and place below and your chart will be magically generated. In the text in the pop up, look to see what sign your ascendant is and that’s it. :)

Every single one of us is unique!  Actually, no two people have the same exact natal chart, even twins!  Each natal chart is calculated based on the date, time and exact location of birth.  Even twins come out minutes apart.  Since the planets are always in movement, one minute can make a notable difference in a birth chart, as a planet can move signs in that one minute changing the energy of the chart.  It’s the same for the location.  Also, two people can have the same date and time, but be in different locations and therefore have incredibly different charts.  As Astrologers, our most difficult job is taking the massive amount of information we obtain for a chart or collection of charts and disseminating that information in a way that can be used for folks to really learn about themselves and their place in the world.  The sun is such an important part of the natal chart (but not the only part, as there are 9 other important planets) that we are able to make some rough estimates on trends for a large grouping of people, and this is why we can write about 12 different signs.  Horoscopes are meant to be a way to introduce you to Astrology.  Once you’ve had a proper introduction, it is always a good idea to chat with an Astrologer to check out your unique, natal chart.  Think of your horoscope as the front page of the newspaper.  An Astrology reading is the whole paper, from back to front.
