Go Upside Down
Why you need to go upside down….
Most of the time your body is right side up. Even when you’re lying down, your blood goes the same way. There isn’t much variation. Unless of course, you’re upside down. Being upside down is AWESOME! You don’t necessarily need to be in headstand or forearm stand, you can just scoot yourself up to a wall, lay on your back, and place your legs on the wall, so that you’re laying in a right angle.
Here are the benefits:
LESS WORK ON YOUR HEART
Being upside down improves circulation. You’re heart normally works hard to get new blood upward to the brain, but if you’re upside down the heart doesn’t have to work as hard.
FRESH BLOOD ALL AROUND!
Because you’re upside down, blood is moves more easily to the extremities. More fresh blood in your legs and arms!
If you’re feeling bloated, go upside down. Any fluid retention happening around the feet will be conquered.
Improve your core! If you’re in headstand you need to squeeze your core to stay upright. If you’re unsure about being in a headstand, stay near a wall so you don’t hurt yourself!
Master Yogi, BKS Iyengar, says headstands reduce depression. DEPRESSION! Woohoo. Iyengar knows what he’s talking about.
When upside down, your skin hangs in the opposite direction. You’re conquering gravity. Goodbye wrinkles!
Being upside down just feels good. I promise. Try it!
